Why are retractors not dir?

I love my retractor! ... it works great, and this model is supposed to be self cleaning. :) They are a bit on the expensive side though :(
 
I used a retractor on a 3 gauge console way back when. It had the habit of getting the line coiled around the gauge and the hose and I would have to unscrew it by spinning the console around in the opposite direction of the coil. Sometimes it took a while to determine which was the opposite direction. Twisting an HP hose at the gauge while pressurised is not a good idea!
If you don't need it, don't take it. If it does not solve a problem, don't take it. If it causes more problems than it solves, sell it on E-Bay.:D
