Scubasean,
The following is from LeisurePro web site.

"Warranty Information
We are not authorized dealers of some Manufacturers, and some of the products may not be accompanied by the manufactures Warranty valid in the United States and/or with an english manual, However we provide in such instances our own Warranty, which offers equal or greater protection, For a Copy of our Warranty Card, Click here."

I merely clarified that their warranty isn't purchased, as your post indicated...It is provided without extra charge, with items you order.

hab25,

I was also considering buying a bc and reg setup from LP because I saw how much I would save. It's hard to find a dive shop that can even get close to their prices. The other day I ran across ScubaToys.com and noticed how competitive their prices were not to mention they offered a full manufacturers warranty since they are an authorized dealer. I gave them a call and had them price a custom package for me. I dealt with Larry, and he was very helpful in answering the many questions I had (as is Scuba Board.) He put together a package for me that beat Leisure Pro's prices and I have the full manufacturer warranty on my equipment. They have a really cool website and they were a pleasure to do business with, I highly recommend them to anyone considering a scuba gear purchase. He even threw my guage and octo holders in for free since I bought an entire package.

Check out their WebCam if you have a fast connection!!!

I love them - great experience... but I limit what I buy from them to items that I feel are not likely to require any warranty or service. Masks, fins, accessories. My BC, reg, dive computer etc. were from the LDS. I know I don't save as much money, but it has already been a good descission as I am among the lucky Uwatec "Smart COM" owners who will be sending in his unit under a voluntary recall (another subject).
Like anything you spend your hard earned dough on, use careful thought and consider all the pros and cons before you become penny wise and pound foolish.

I purchase lots of accessories there. Most of my larger purchases are made at the LSD. I can usually get reasonably comparable prices locally so it makes sense for me to purchase there.

I purchased 90% of my gear from LP and only had 2 mix ups. Once they sent me a BC instead of the regulator that I ordered and the other time a BC that I DID order came with the tank strap sewn backwards (it turned out to be an error at the factory) and LP send me a new one.

Other than that I have had no problems with defective gear. I have ordered SP, Aqua Lung, Apek's, Akona, Bare, OMS, Mares, Cressi-Sub, Ocean Master, and Genesis all without problems.

Take it for what its worth...just my $ .02...

I have bought a number of items from Leisure Pro over the last couple of years and have been very pleased with their service. I have purchased two Oceanic Data Max Pro Plus air intgerated dive computers and have never had any problems.

I just bought a new Genesis manfiold with isolator from them last week. I receive confirmation of my order and then an email when it is shipped.

Good company.

Very pleased with LP from all my purchases and dealings. That includes a high-end BC, Regs, Computer, Lights, etc. Almost everything except for the dives.

The single issue I had was rapidly resolved. It was my mistake, and a quick return of the wrongly-ordered item resulted in a quick ship of the right item (ordered correctly, this time).

If I could have bought any of the major items for an additional $50 locally, I would have supported my local stores. But, I do have a limited budget, and an additional $230 for the reg set is a tad extreme.

I bought from LP before, but I would not buy an expensive BC, computer, or regulator. They tell up in front that they are not an authorized dealer, therefore you have no warranty with what you buy, but you can purchase LP’s own service contract or warranty and they would take care of the gear for you.
When the heck did they start doing this? I've purchased regs, a Vyper, cameras, a video housing, strobe units, all kinds of things.
Their policy is no FACTORY warranty, but the LP warranty matches the factory warranty.
