I'll be down at Whitestar the weekend of 5/15 and 16. Will arrive sometime Friday after work and stay thru Sunday. We'll be camping across the street.

Saturday evening we should have a fairly large crew around the fire. The more the merrier.

Will anyone else be there that I should look for?

Paula

Hello Wreckers.

Had a very nice weekend at Whitestar. Saturday started out a bit wet but one awning took care of that. There were very few people at the quarry and vis was fantastic.

The campout / cookout went well. We tried out my new tripod and 10 gallon kettle. The chili was delicious! & a group effort. Lots of cooks adding to the mix. I'm not even sure if I know everything that was dumped in the pot. Add some cowboy beans, homemade Thai food, home made salsa & chips and Ghiradelli brownies and the pot luck was a total success.

The weather on Sunday was beautiful. Think I even got a slight burn. & there were lots more people. Amazing what good weather does to attendance at a quarry. Vis wasn't quite as good but was still good.

Now for the big question.... who was there? I met a couple of the wreckers - Wreckncaver (Kim) and Mgb43551 (Dave) but know there were more of us at Whitestar. Very cool meeting people from our club.

So who made it to the quarry? Kim and I were the only two I know were there both Saturday and Sunday. But there were more of us planning on being there on Sunday. & I'm sure there were give just how many divers swarmed the quarry.

I was there but had no clue that members from here were going to be down there. We were the big group (22 of us) that were barbecuing and diving.

Hi Rooster.

Were you part of the archeology class I saw Jeff Ohmstead part of? We had 26 there on Saturday but if so, your group was definitely the hard to miss group today. Especially if one crossed the boat you were measuring underwater! :new_olymp

We'll have to make sure to say 'hi' next time.

Jeff was with our group and he is the prez of our club this year, we were having our monthly club BBQ. This one just ended up being a dive along with the BBQ

Ahh. He's a great charter captain. Are all your club's BBQs at quarries?

Mgb43551 is my buddy Mark. I was also there, but my wife and kids came along for a picnic, so I was busy keeping fishing hooks out of divers :)

LOL! Bet they were the kids fishing from the South wall fairly close to the entrance to the water. We made sure everyone had a knife &/or shears with them in case they were hooked!

Hopefully next time we'll meet.

Actually no. That is the only one we have had at WhiteStar. We usually have them on Peche Island between Windsor and Detroit.

My family and I were there also, we camped across the street. We got in late on Friday (though not as late as some!). We set up camp about 9:30, made our first dive about 10 on Saturday. Vis was great, all had fun. Wish I had checked the board before going, I would have taken the time to introduct myself.
