I just booked the White Manta livaboard @ the Similans for 30Jan-4Feb. Anyone else on that trip? I'm going with my family actually, 3 of 4 are divers.

Anyone been on the White Manta and have suggestions?

Personally, I think you've made a great choice. I'm really, really biased though. :p

One thing I am often surprised by is that some guests book their return flights in such a way that they need to avoid the last day's diving - due to no-fly time. Please don't do that if you haven't booked your flights yet. Like most LOB's doing trips there, the last day's dives are at the Boon Song wreck. It's my favorite dive site up there and well worth delaying your return for.

White Manta is indeed a fine liveaboard. You have made a good choice. I will be doing my sixth (?) trip in early December. (I've been doing liveaboards in the Andaman Sea since the mid 1990s.)

Agree with Zippsy; don't miss the last day. The Boon Sung wreck is sort of a consolation round. If you missed anything on the previous dives you have a good chance of seeing it at the Boon Sung.

The boat is very comfortable. The dive deck is superb. The crew is well trained and very helpful. Bring your appetite. The food is wonderful.

I have posted a few White Manta videos on YouTube: Michael Newman - YouTube

oh no worries; we're booked to leave the day after. wouldn't miss a couple of good days of diving.

glad to hear the positive comments on the boat. thanks.
