White Fungus?

(San Carlos Beach, in Monterey CA on Jan 2, 2014. Water temp around 54F, depth around 45fsw)My dive partner and I noticed a handful of areas where there appeared to be mold and/or white fungus growing on rocks. Attached is a short clip of the substance along with a few pictures. I'm curious to see what others have to say about it, and if someone could positively identify it for me, that would be awesome! appears to be an encrusting Sponge.

I'd concur with the encrusting sponge... look at the incurrent and excurrent pores in the full sized pictures

Very interesting, thank you for the quick replies jcaplins and Drbill. It never crossed my mind that it could be a sponge; I'll have to do some reading up on encrusting sponges
