What do you want from a computer and what's your budget?

Need more information, what are you after from a computer? Do you want single or multiple mixes, do you want computer download? do you want a watch ?

Nobody can give a sensible answer without more information.

Good choice on suunto though:)

Like the idea of a watch so not to bulky, as just starting out would probably spend £200. So it would be the Vyper or Mosquito. Was going to go for latter but read a couple of threads on it !!

The idea of downloadable is good !!

Just was thinking Suunto cos they looked the best from what I saw !!

I've had the Mosquito for almost a year now and LOVE it! The small size makes is a useful for using before and after the dive. Plus I like smaller size anyways!!

Beware the "watch" type computers arent as clear as the nice big display such as the vyper. Its worth considering if eyesight isnt the best or you dive in low vis and/or dark areas. Given what you've said above id go for the vyper. Its not a watch but does everything else and within budget (you can pick them up for about £180 online).

I read in a mag recently that the Suunto computers require that you send them back to the factory in order to simply change the battery. That seems lame. I'd prefer to be able to carry a spare battery on a long trip.
The wristwatch types you do (not just limited to Suunto), but not the consoles.
However, it's not a bad idea to have the factory check the thing out once in a while anyway, and if it leaks after they replace the battery you're going to have a much better argument for their replacing or repairing the unit at no charge.
