I am wanting to make a trip down to the panhandle of Florida or around Orlando to dive some of the springs. Which one would you recommend?

Try DeLoach's guide to Florida diving. Also check floridacaves.com. Some springs are fine for OW certified divers, others naturally require more advanced training. Also, per other posts here, the Blue Grotto is for sale (sold?).

Blue Grotto is indeed for sale, but not sold and still being run as a dive spot.

If you want to goto the panhandle, I'd dive Cypress(but you'll need to rent a canoe or dive with me :) and the Miss Jellyfish dive yacht of doom). Morrison is flooded at the moment. Vortex would be another option, but there's admission and the site itself is really manmade looking... Alot of fun if you haven't been though.

If you're willing to drive further, you have more options. Ginnie Springs is alot of fun, there is an admission($~30), but the site is very natural looking once you're UW. Then there's Blue Grotto and Devils Den, both good for a few dives(~$30ish each), but after 2 you'll be bored more than likely - out of the two, I preffer Devils Den. Troy springs($10) offers alot of OW stuff and a shallow spring run with a civil war era shipwreck - small admittance fee. Royal is free, but may be flooded with the rain we've had?

May want to check out Paradise(~$30) and Alexander Springs(~$5-10), I haven't been, but the look interesting. Manatee Springs(~$5-10) is another I haven't dove, but would like to...

If you're going into central FL and want to dive one spot with the most to offer, Ginnie would be it IMO.

Dive Sports is planning a trip to Homosassa Springs, Florida to dive with the Manatees in January.

As mentioned, Diving Guide to Underwater Florida

is a great source for locations.
