Hello all,
This is my first post here and I have a question for which I am sure has been asked multiple times...

I am looking to buy a good reg and octo setup, no need for nitrox capable or cold water.

The selection is vast but I think I have narrowed it down to either the Aqualung Titan or Scuba Pro, maybe the Sherwood Magnum.
Any advice, experience with these would be greatly appreciated.

The Scubapro Mk11 C200 or MK 11 C300 would be good choices and the MK 17 G250V is superb.

There is also nothing wrong with the Aqualung Titan and the Aqualung Legend would be my choice if the Scubapro MK 17 G250V were not available.

I am not a real fan of Sherwood. The magnum, brut , etc are not bad regs but neither are they exceptional. The SR1 in both the first and second stages takes simple concepts and complicates the hell out of them - a bad approach when dealing with scuba regulators.

Not to make things more confusing, but take a look at atomic regs too

I know its not on your list but I would go with the Oceanic EOS or Delta 4.2. You can't go wrong with Oceanic.

If you go with the titan make sure it is the LX as the standard titan does not have a balanced second stage.

I know its not on your list but for about the same $$ as the tital lx you might look at the atomic Z2x.It has the same design and breaths just as good as atomics high end regs, just made from different materials plus a 2 year/ 300 dive service interval. . Whatever you decide make sure you can get local service for them so you do not have to mail them out for service.

I will definitely look into the Oceanic EOS, I actually saw that one at DiverSupply in Jacksonville, yesterday. I was talking to one of the staff there and they were pushing the Sea Elite "Boss" reg, said if purchased through them that service parts were free for lifetime, so complete cost of service is $57.45, (required once per yr to maintain LT warranty).
What's the word on those, anyone???

Lord, this is an open ended question.

All the Regs you listed are fine, some better than others to a small extent..... Must agree the SR-1 is moving toward the complex.

Scuba Pro and Atomic seem to set the standard, but do not compare a bottom of the line Scuba Pro to an Atomic anything....

Just the service saving on the Atomic's make them a worth the $$ not to mention the excellent breathing they give you.

Throw in the mass of others, it becomes a shooting gallery.

Yes the HOG is nice too !

I use 4 Sea Elites and 4 Oceanics for my students. No problems so far with either of these units. I don't recommend the lowest level S.E. as one I had seemed to free flow all the time, finally returned it.

Apeks are hard to find and harder to fine service, yes they are great Regs, as are the Aqua-Lungs.

I've owned them all and used them all in my business.

Boil it down, my two Favs:
The Atomic B-2.......... or ST-1 if you've got the extra cash.
2nd and a backup the SP MK17/G250V Old school looking, but sweet with Milflex hoses.
