OK.... it appears that Eneloop may be the winner. I should have included this in my first post now I have a question of memory. Will the Eneloop batt's need to be run completely down or can they be recharged with differing levels of power without building up a memory?

I have been using the same Eneloop 2000 mAh batteries in my Inon S2000 strobes for a couple of years. They will be OK for at least 3 dives or a 150 to 200 flashes. I always recharge them at the end of the day after 2 or 3 dives. I know they will not last forever so I always have a couple of spares when I go on dive trips

+ Another for Eneloop Batteries, don't bother with anything else. I have Eneloops, and my girlfriend has Energizers, and the energizers can not hold a charge longer than 2 days without recharging.

But these are 800 mAh rechargeable AAA batteries???

I use Ansmann MaxE 2500 mAh and they last 4 dives easily here they are 33% cheaper than Sanyo Eneloop X 2500 mAh and they have a two years warranty as opposed to 500 cycle (that would be difficult to measure unless you keep a log)

Even the energizers can last 10 dives if you only take 20 pictures in each dive. The true measure of a battery is the number of pics and power used on the strobe not how many dives.

The eneloops I have are all AA's. I also have the adapter to make them useable as a C cell. That is what I use in my main light for night dives. I have 3 sets, one set is always in the process of being charged while another set is being used with the 3rd on standby.

Yes, I know the AA doesn't have as much power as a C cell but they will keep my light working for over 4 hours. I don't do night dives that last 4 hours so they work for me.

I also use them in my strobe and in the video light. I haven't had any problems with running down on an average day of diving and picture taking. I bought some of them at the ecodepot website I posted earlier and I also bought some at Costco. I have no complaints at all.
