Just curious what folks thought, need to get a lens that I'll be shooting with a 5D. Have the port for a 17-40 f4 L but no lens... I just noticed there was a now discontinued 20-35 f2.8L which goes used for about the same price.

Anyone have any experience with these two? Would like the width, but f2.8 is a errr turn on too :)

I have a 16-35mm f/2.8 lens that I use with my 5D. I really like the wide angle of the 16-35mm. There is a very noticable difference between 16mm and my 20mm f/2.8 lens. The lens also has a very close focusing distance and allows you to get really close to your subject. I have only used the lens in ambient light so far and I really have not used the widest apeture much at all due to the depth of field. I have not used the 17-40mm lens but I have heard good things about it. You can look at some good lens reviews on www.dpreview.com and also www.bobatkins.com.

Good luck.

Ryan
