Hi,

I am going on vacation next month with family to Puerto Aventuras (maya riviera). will be staying at AI Barcelo Tropical Colonial. I see folks there recommended two shops in the area:

Dive Aventuras:
Welcome to Dive Aventures - This Page Tells All About Us

Diablo Divers / Aquanauts
Diablo Divers

The first site doesn't have much information about where they do diving, and the 2nd site doesn't seem to be working. Are there any other options?

Do I, or should I, need to find out which dive sites the operators would take us to? I'll be staying for 6 days, and most interested in coral reef and marine life, (not cenote or wreck) if I do one dive in the morning and one in the afternoon, I could be doing 10+ dives, so I'd like to find an operator that would take us to different sites, hopefully with small group? Are there operator that organizes divers with strong UW photography interest?

Thanks in advance!

We have used Aquanauts for the past 4 years. They are safety conscience, a fun group of people to be around, bottom time over timed dives is their motto and they do not run a cattle boat.
Try this: Aquanauts Dive Shop - Puerto Aventuras, Mexico - Aquanauts Dive Shop
for their information.
We love the north sites, more fish life than the south sites. Pedregal stands out as a shallow dive with tons of life. North Ruinas is also a fast drift dive with very healthy corals and life, but much further north and they will only go there if there are more people in the boat, over 4 people to make it worth while for them.
I too do underwater photography and especially Mauricio is very patient for waiting, just going super slow and for also pointing out things.
There is on fresh water bucket on the boat, I don't put my stuff in one even when there is (heard too many horror stories of scratched ports and flooding) but they always come back for SIT time at the marina, and there is fresh water there, and I bring a bottle of fresh water on the boat to just quickly rinse off the salt water on our way back.
Looking forward to diving with them again in the fall

Hi,
Aquanauts is no longer connected with Diablo Divers. Our website is www. aquanauts-online.com. You can check out the ocean diving section for info on the reefs that we visit. If you have any questions you can contact us through the website.

You should have a good experience with either shop. I get to PA a couple of times a year and spend time in both places (full disclosure -- I haven't actually dived with the people from either shop -- I just spend time there between cave dives!).

Thanks for your replies. The web sites of the mentioned dive shops do not have names or any info about the actual dive sites (ocean/reef). Does anyone have any information on that? (so when I go there, I could ask the dive ops to take me to some specific sites)
