I always say....don't buy dive gear twice!
I went with a dive rite 10W HID and I love it. Small, compact and a great beam.
I shouldn't have to buy another light until I get light envy for the big lights...

Just picked up a new light at the Georgia dive show.www.handsfreelights.com
Has 10 LED's in it and is attached to a glove. Sits on top of your hand. Also rechargeable and all for 99 bucks. Pretty cool. Will be able to try it in Roatan neek weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a note .. check the light output rating and compare , the regular C8 is one of the brighter lights you can find, at good price, and is a reasonable substitute until the day comes that you want (afford  ) a HID light

I like my C8 ... and yes, I would like an HID more
.. and the adage for HID lights is to go big the first time, so you don't have to buy again

Buying not twice in case of a HID lamp is only half the truth. You forgot the big amount of expensive spare bulbs you need in one diving light life. ;-)

That´s the point why I don´t use HID. I prefer high output LED lamps that I build on my own. They don´t need to hide behind a 24W HID light..

MikeRD03,

Care to share any details/pics of the LED's you've built? I built my own Hamogen, thinking about switching it to an LED, so any help would be appreciated.

Yes sure, if u like you can see two of my diving lights on my homepage www.tauchfunzel.de
Sorry, the page is german only, so u perhaps need google to translate it. But english pages are in work and will be online soon.
The biggest light is the OSTAR project with its 4 x 15W OSTAR Emitter and over 3000 Lumen lightoutput. If u have questions don´t hesitate.

Soon there will be my LED Backuplight online with roundabount double brightness compared to the heser.

@Captain CaveMan I´d took a look at the datasheet of that lamp und its 80 Lumen Lightoutput isn´t what I would call top technology ;-) Modern LED emitter achieves more than 200 Lumen (!)

That is very cool. The google translator is not the best, so I'll be very interested to read the details once you have an english page. Your machinig skills are a bit better than mine, nice work.

If you want to see another example of serious LCD power, check out the WiseLED Tactical light.

Yes you can dive with this. It kick's serious tail against EVERYTHING hand held out there with light equal or better than a 24W HID as tested HERE

Burntime of 100 minutes on full power, and 300 minutes at 70%.

If it was not so expensive, and came in a canister configuration, I would have purchased one over the HID.
