Hi there everyone,

Im about to buy a BCD and wandering which one to go for...

I did a couple of my PADI courses using Beuchat BCDs and I found them ok.

However I d really like to know your opinion on this.

Thanks
Costas

Selecting a piece of gear is a personal thing. The decision is yours. Go out, borrow/rent some gear, try it, and decide for yourself. Asking for opinions on which gear to buy on this board is a futile attempt. The only thing you are doing is opening yourself up to the biases of the members of this board. The only way you're going to get an honest opinion on this is to form it yourself.

Good luck!

Don't feel obligated to buy the equipment from your certifying dive shop. While you should certainly try out their gear, they don't sell every brand and therefore you may not find what fits you best. And one thing for sure, FIT is IMPORTANT!

If you're looking for opinions on BCs from SB members, just remember two things:

1) List what kind of dives (and where) you're planning to do; and

2) Be ready to hear opinions on backplates and wings (which I use, but I believe people should try out different styles and decide for themselves)

with the others, try to borrow several before
you make a choice....Zeagle and Seaquest
are very good and have excellent warranties....

Also what price range are you looking at?

Thanks for your advice!

To be honest I dont know much about backplates and wings. I ll have to search on that.

Cheers.

Neither did I. I also made the mistake of not buying one. That was easily fixed though... the things are fantastic.

Where do you dive?

I think the Mares HUB is an outstanding piece of gear.........LOL
They seem to be selling so well.

I'm continually surprised by how many people I see switching to backplates and wings. I was at Dutch Springs this weekend and well over half of the people I saw there were in them.

I've never seen a HUB, thank god ;)

I may be switching over to a bp/w setup this summer if I start diving some more. I second the HUB setups...err getups...err ...?
