I have two regs a Sherwood Blizzard 1st & 2nd and a ScubaPro g250 on a MK10+ first stage. Which one would you use as a primary and backup and why? Most diving will be in the northeast.
Thanks

Relative ages?

What do they have for alternate 2nds?

The Blizzard will certainly serve you well up here. I don't know the SP line enough to choose.

G250.....no question the better reg.

The Sherwood Blizzard is from 1982 SRB3205
The ScubaPro MK10+ from 1997 and the g250 from 1986. I believe it's a cold water reg.
Both serviced!

I guess I worded it wrong. I want to use one as the primary and the other on a pony.

+1 for the G250. There's no better reg.

I don't know the Scubapro line but I own a Blizzard. They are okay. Nothing to write home about. They breath wet when upside down. If the pony is used for safety stops or emergency situations then I'd put the Blizzard on the pony. I've heard enough about the Scubapro to know it cannot be worse than the Blizzard.

If you use the Blizzard on a pony plan to keep it pressurized while in the water. Otherwise the dry bleed will release chamber pressure and water is likely to get in past the check valve.

Thanks, thats the kind of input I am looking for, how would I keep it from free flowing?

One it's underwater it should be fine. I have some that I use that way. You just don't want it tuned to deliver air super easy.

It should behave like an alternate second stage.
