what are the choices? i plan on rec, deep, navigation, and one more. Is nitrox a choice?

Would that be a PADI Advanced Open Water certification?

Yes Nitrox could be a choice...Check your agency's web site...should have a list of available options there.

This has been discussed more times than you can count here. You would be well-served to search and read some of the older threads on the subject.

You have to do 5. Do night. You can get Nitrox at the same time by doing two of the dives on Nitrox. Highly recommended. It'll save you some money.

Lots of long threads on this. Do a search or look in Similar Threads below.

Search and recovery is another good option.

Regardless of the number you end up with, I strongly recommend night, deep, navigation, nitrox, peak performance buoyancy, and possibly search and recovery. Those will all help you go to the next level in your diving.

The agency would be SDI since that's what the LDS offers and I believe its 4 that I have to choose.

assuming it is a PADI course;
you have to do 5..navigation and deep are core dives the others are electives..each dive can count as the 1st dive of a specific speciality..for your geographic area I find that navigation/search recovery/deep/wreck/night are usually the choices due to local limited visibility.deep/wreck should be done preferrably in the ocean,again to give you the best experience.night can be done in li sound aqgain =-look for lobsters on that one:)..this is what I suggest for my adv. students here. any other dives (nitrox/photo/etc)require more time in classroom or pool so they add $ to course)

So, if your just adding the one extra...I might suggest the advanced buoyancy. Some might find it unnecessary and around here the Dry suit specialty is good to have as soon a possible, so you might consider that if you plan on going that route!
