Mhy first open water dive was at Ginnie Springs. We were supposed to do a dive in Ginnie, then another dive in Devils Den, but we all loved Ginnie we stayed at Ginnie. I dove three tanks that day, and loved every second of it, and hated it when i had to dismantle my rig to go home.

When we realized that as open water certs we could enter Ginnie, we practically broke our necks trying to clambor in. I drained a tank in the ballroom alone. Second tank I spent soem time checking the surface area, snorkeled to the river interface, and dove my first blackwater. Lets put it thsi way, now I dont care at all what the viz is like. If I can dive that viz, I can dive anything. Tank three after a nice safe surface inteval, was divided between scoping the bottom of the river and hitting the ballroom one last time. To this day, I love diving that place. And still love going back. Trying to convince my fiancee' thats where we need to go for her first OW dive.

my first dive was a discover dive at cane bay st.croix. three of us were in the water, waist deep. the instructor had us duck underwater to try the scuba gear. wanted to know what our first impressions were.i remember that exhaling for the first time was something i thought was just a unique experience.the bubbles and all that. i was hooked. :snorkel:

lol good call... i have to say, Devil's visibility can get so bad it's not worth
the dive.

but the view from the dive platform is awesome, ain't it?

My first certified OW dives were in the pristine waters of Walker's Cay, Bahamas.. Absolutely gorgeous and still one of my favorite spots..

I got pretty much the same effect by bottoming out at the spring/river interface. The way the tannin and clear water swirled around me was just awesome. And the view from both platforms is amazing, I wish there was moe to see once in the water, but being a new diver, I found plenty of things to gawk at.

Sounds like the same hot mud hole that was my first open water dive.

Hehe My First Ow Dive Was In A Hot Water Spring In The Dead Of Winter. This Was In Utah And As We Were Talking On The Surface We Had Snow Building Up On Our Head. It Was A Kelw Thing To Still Be In 95f Water At 40 Feet. But There Was Nothing To See Beside The Hot Water Bubbling Out Of The Sand.

First open water dive was in Lake Travis, Texas. First blue water dive was in San Salvador, Bahamas in 1979.

First 3 dives at Casino point on Catalina Island in California. Nothing like walking down a flight of stairs and into the water. Next 4 dives on the west end of the Island.
