Hi all, I’ll go to do a Similan Islands LoB in Dec and am thinking about doing my rescue course afterwards in Koh Lanta or Koh Lipe. You have any recommendation for reputable dive shops running good rescue course? And thoughts on to take the course in Koh Lanta or Koh Lipe?
Thank you!

Lanta vs. Lipe
1. Koh Lanta is huge when compared with the tiny island of Koh Lipe. Your own leg power will determine where you would like to go but you will need a motor on Lanta.
2. There are many beaches on Lanta offering various accommodation to suit your budget.
3. Diving from Lanta is expensive by Thai standard as the sites are far but not sure how the operator carries out the rescue course.
4. Koh Lipe is another 3hrs by speed boat from Lanta and the cost of living is slightly higher than Lanta but not significantly. A lot of nonsense on line.

There are many established operators on both islands and I had dived with five and they were all competent.
If you have time than you ought to visit both islands.
Another option is Khao Lak which is about 2hrs from down town Phuket.

Enjoy the Kingdom.

Thank you so much! 🙏🏻

Yeah haha the rescue course in Koh Lanta seems to be more expensive than what I found in AU. But I really wanna do it in tropical. Would 6 days be enough to hit both islands? The a few rescue courses I’ve seen are 3 days long. And from what I’ve read so far, I really wanna dive Stonehedge in Koh Lipe.

B14,500.00(>US$420.00) for the course is really expensive.
Stonehenge is beautiful.
I do not think 6 days will be enough to cover both islands and the course.

Catch the speed boat from Rassada pier in Phuket in the morning to Koh LIpe(5hrs).
