... so you could be looking at flat calm seas with zero wind the day before a storm and still have no boat diving.
Been there, done that (more than once, I'm afraid).

We just got back from a vacation at Grand Cayman. I highly recommend Neptune Divers as the two guides (Daniele and Jorge) are very hospitable. They do 8 divers max on their trips. 4 divers per guide. They took us to a new dive spot called Tarpon Tunnel, which I highly recommend. It was like diving next to a sky scraper of coral, and when you look down you see an endless wall. We were at 100ft and saw some sharks right under us at maybe 150ft.

Here are some vids I posted on youtube:

nm can't post links. Just search gunraywong on Youtube for the vids.

We stayed at the Marriot, which I also recommend. When we got done diving, we went snorking right on the beach which was 200ft behind the hotel. They had "reef balls", which are artificial reefs. Right behind that, there is some real reefs. There is a done of fish and coral out there. There was a lot of life there, and you can spend hours exploring.

For food, Hammerheads in Georgetown offered the best seafood. There was another Irish Style pub that had very fresh Fish and Chips. The Reef Grill right by the Marriot also had some tasty dinner, although pricey. Guy Harveys was also very tasty. We were told Breezes was good, but didn't get a chance to try it.

Hope this helps.

we have been diving GC every year for 10+ years. we used to go in october and because of the rain now go in november (Pirates week was moved from oct to nov for the same reason) we like pirates week because of the local heritage day festivals which gives insite to island life. we have been diving with Nick Buckley, Deep Blue divers for the 10+ years. outstanding operation. This year we are spending 5 days on cayman brac as well. so these comments have been very interesting. I will say on GC you can find quiet spots. we always go horse back riding (Pampered Ponies) on the west side of the island and always have a private ride on the beach. we usually don't see anyone. you can find a lot of local spots or you can find the more commercial type places in GC.
