Hi... I want to take a dive trip in Mat or June but am not sure where to go. I am AOW certified and will be traveling by myself. Where would you suggest that I go? Last year I did a Blackbeard cruise. I'm not sure if I want to do a live aboard again. Blackbeard was fun but it was realling roughing it. I need a few more creature comforts at this point. Thanks for all of your help...

You might want to consider an all-inclusive diving resort. Something like Scuba Club Cozumel, CocoView in Roatan or one of the atoll resorts in Belize. I think those are easy places to go as a diver traveling solo. Everyone is there to dive, there tends to be other solo travelers too. You will feel like part of a big group when then the stand-out single traveler.

We've been going to Cayman Diving Lodge for a few years (unfortunately closed to rebuilt after Ivan). It was a small AI dive resort. Each time we were there, there was a mix of singles, couples and couples traveling together. Everyone fit right in after a day of diving together. I'm pretty sure that any of the AI dive resorts will provide a similar environment.

I do not know what costs you are considering but if you are looking to keep the price down and can get a reasonable flight to Cozumel this is what I have done twice as a solo diver/traveler. I stayed at the Caribe Blu Hotel and dove with Blue Angel. Blue Angel is on site and both are owned by the same couple. The hotel is basic but clean and the dive company is good. The hotel is 1 1/2 miles from the town square so you can walk or take an inexpensive taxi for the restaurants. The people in the hotel are mostly divers and I have found them to be pretty friendly and I did not have a problem meeting people and had a great time.

Thanks for the advice. There is a dive show comming up in March. I'll look for an AI there.
