I can't seem to find an outlet that offers this compass 'naked', without any wrist mount, boot or mount of any sort. If you know where to look, please let me know.

Same here. I've been looking for one to combine with a DSS mount. Best I've found so far has been the console add ons from LP for $54.95.

I believe this is a case of they do not stock the parts because of low demand and high expense so you just buy the whole unit and strip the parts you need.

Supposedly - according to DSS - one can take the compass out of the mount it comes with. I don't know how difficult that is. All I've found out so far is that my LDS said "You can't take it out" and some post on some other forum described how to use side cutters and apply a high degree of caution. I guess I'll order a unit from LP and see for myself.

There's a group buy going on over at the deco stop. Good deal and unit comes ready to be assembled by you with compass, DSS mount, and bungee. The guy that's doing it is first rate and it's how I got mine last go round.

I have both the retractor mount (which is now my wife's), and the wrist boot. I pulled the SK7 out of the wrist boot, and installed it into DSS's mount (perfect fit - and great improvement).

It *was* a bit difficult to remove from the wrist mount it came with, and since I had no use for the that wrist mount, I carefully cut the two rubber bits above and below the side window of the compass to make it easier to remove, rather than damage the SK7.

It snapped right into the DSS mount, and used 1/8" shock cord (also from DSS) for the straps (found the 3/16" didn't pass thru the mount holes easily).

You could buy just the capsule, bezel and bezel mount but it would likely cost as much or more than the compass with wrist boot. We have ordered parts in the past with no problem as I cracked one compass and was able to only buy the main capsule......just reused my other parts.

sounds interesting, except I have already ordered my mount from DSS. Do you know whether I could get just the compass through decostop?

You need to go over there and contact "pickens_46929", who is putting the deal together and see if he's willing to get an extra one without the mount.

Or you can contact me here... :)

Same handle. :)

Putting in a group order this week.

Final price is still $80. Couldn't find it cheaper. If we hit the next quantity break at 36 (doubtful but you never know), I'll refund the couple of bucks in cash in the package. If you order a second unit, it's $76 for the 2nd one since I can save on shipping.

Paypal is pickens_46929@yahoo.com

If you do paypal, you can put a deposit of $40 and I'll invoice you the rest right before I ship it out. Or you can pay the whole thing. Doesn't matter.

If you want to pay by check, I require the full amount.

I am hoping to get the units and things within 3 weeks and turn them around within 48 hours of getting all the parts.

Please respond to this PM here on SB to confirm the following information:

1) Quantity SK-7 kits desired
2) Any additional DeepSea Supply items, their part numbers and price (pls add per item for shipping)
3) Total amount
4) Payment method (paypal or check)
5) Your email address
6) Your shipping address
