Hi guys. I am a Montrealer and wanted to know if there were any dive places near Montreal where I could go diving without having to rent a boat which can start getting quite expensive when you go every weekend. I would even go as far as Kingston and do a camping weekend/dive weekend. Any suggestions to some dive spots with something of interest to see would be appreciated. Years ago I went to lake Sacacoumie. Entering without the need of a boat was fine but there was not to much to see. I am really looking to see stuff of more interest. Any
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Montreal is an island.

Lake champlain has plenty of wrecks. I've never dove it though, to cold.

Lake Champlain has great diving..wrecks, walls, etc., but very little shore diving. Lots of great dives in the St. Lawrence (the Conestoga in Cardinal, Rothesay in Prescott, Lock 21 (this is an advanced dive)), I would suggest getting Chris Kohl's book, The Great Lakes Diving Guide...great resource.

Cornwall, Brockville, Rockport has shore diving, there is also a good training quarry in Gatineau but it would be a two hour hike for a quarry. There is a quarry on the south shore as I was told but I never dove it.

I only free dove in Champlain once from a shore when we were camping, so cannot really provide any feedback.

The diving in the river is awesome given you have a scooter :) then you can do a lot from the shore. I know many people buy scooters as it saves money vs. diving on charters.

you can dive anywhere, just avoid the shipwrecks,,,they are killers!!
these shipwrecks might have bad spirits, ghosts from the people who died and got trapped inside back then and continually victimizing divers of today....so scary!..i'm having goose bumps..
