Kay here is the situation:

We are going to be going on vacation for the entire month of may, i am a diver however my wife is not, she is a sun worshipper however since i am apparently ADHD when she is trying to relax she has no problem with me diving alot on vacation.

We want to rent a luxury villa somewhere that has great beaches, obviously spectacular diving as i intend to dive at least 20 2-tank dives during so alot of different sites would be nice. We both like to see the real areas we vacation at and often rent cars and tour the countryside so a safe surrounding area would be nice.

I am just having a difficult time putting this together as we usually just go to the mayan riviera however i am tired of all inclusive, and frankly think we should check out somewhere else. And ideas welcome, i am just losing my mind with all the options.

Have you checked out Bonaire or Curacao....both great dive destinations...they are islands so somewhat limited as far as driving the "countryside" but both are nice islands to cruise around for sightseeing... Bonaire has a great msg board to find out information...Topics - Bonaire Talk

or go to the forum here ABC Islands - ScubaBoard

If she really is a sun worshipper then she won't care which island you go to.
Make your choice and then pitch it to her.

You can shore dive your brains out on Bonaire for roughly $100 to $130 a week USD.

Do you have a price range? Particular type of diving you want to do?

Bonaire - get a little condo, rental truck, and have a blast! This is what I would do! Eat, sleep, dive, maybe go windsurfing on the other side of the island a few days, take lessons, dive some more...:D

or

Belize - Ambergris Caye, lots of nice little hotels, lots of topside activities.
Roatan - Stay on north side for a week, south side for a week, then at West end for a week, then last week head over to Utila by ferry and spend a week.
Kona, Hawaii - rent a condo and a car, see the volcanos and caves, jungle and rainforest waterfalls, lots to do topside!

I would say Turks & Caicos, of course the price will be more but she will love Grace Bay as there are miles of beautiful sand and the diving with Caicos Adventures is terrific.
