Well right around Christmas time my family will be on a cruise through Mexico and Belize. My father in law is in the process of getting certified right now and I was wondering where a good beginner dive site would be in Belize. We will only be in Belize for about ten hours but I really want to have a nice dive site to go to given that this will be one of his first dive. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Belize is a one place where it seems taking the cruise ship dive excursion is a good idea - for reasons of logistics there plus the op has a pretty good rep with the excursions, unlike some places. And if you do that you will go where the boat plans to go. As a new diver, most any reasonable tropical site is going to be nice for him. And as a cruise ship excursion, you can count on it being suitable for newer divers. So this one I wouldn't overanalyze, just sign up for the cruise ship excursion and enjoy.
