looks like a Filipino flag on the boat

The clue is in the flag, so which area/region of this 7,000+ island nation

Ok Mark you have the country

Let's just say that once you land in the capital they only other journeys you do are by road and boat. In fact the boat pictured was my transport and it took around 30 mins from the main hopping off point to a much more popular resort.

Didn't notice any volcanos on the island

Quero, did your six countries include Quadra? :) Most of my dives have been in BC but I'm not sure I would have recognized that one particular ferry/dock.
No ,but I've been to Vancouver four times and spent a little time exploring Vancouver island by car--Victoria, Nanaimo, Campbell River, and while I didn't make it over to Quadra, I knew there was a ferry.... And finally, I'm really good at research.

hmmm i was thinking Batangas as the gateway for PG or Maya as the gateway for Malapascua, but don't remember a little island at either place

Wantonmien, Bohol is waaaaaaay off.

Mark, Tjack, ocdiver1 and fisheater, you are all in the pretty close, but this place is slightly off the beaten track.

Tjack, PG is awesome, and I highly recommend Asia Divers, possibly the best set up there.
