So - if you could choose anywhere in NE Australia to live, and wanted good diving (including shore dives, wreaks and maybe a resident tec population) and a decent lifestyle, where would it be?

I'm returning to Oz in October after 5 years in the gobi desert. I'll be working on an outback Queensland project on a fly-in fly out roster to anywhere north of Sydney.

I'm thinking Brisbane or maybe even Byron as I'm a cold water wuss and can't bare to hang up my drysuit just yet: but what are your thoughts? It would need an airport within 1 hour dive to be feasible.

Cheers,
Rohan.

I'm not sure if you meant dive or drive?

Good luck :)

Bryon is my bet

Chris (DiveTub) lived there for years and i think he misses it still.

and remember to get a big enough place for all your friends to visit!! ;)

otherwise, near north solitary island

Yeah Byron is cool. One good thing though is that Nimbon is just arround the corner.:rofl3:

South West Rocks is a bit further south, and the diving blows my mind every time i go there. Snorkelling/ free-diving is great but i have never really been into the shore diving there.

Wooo hooo - two weeks to go! Am shoving all my dive gear into DHL boxes: 4 boxes/100+ kg of dive gear and 2 boxes/50 kg for all other personal possessions....

Will be based in Brisbane for the first few months but will be heading down the east coast to check the diving soon after arriving...

I really can't wait,
Cheers,
Rohan.

A Lord night! Sounds great to me! I'll let you know when we head down your way...

but first...

Just one question:

What, exactly, is 'a Lord night'?

I assume it involves dressing up as Lords and Ladies and having a spiffing time...

Nothing like a bit of pomp I say!

Cheerio,
Rohan.
