Also, check out OBDC—the Old Broads Dive Club. We were on a boat with four longtime members, the oldest was I think 83, but they said all ages belong. OBDC.org. Men can be auxiliary members, called (as I recall) Sherpas. They do a lot of trips.
That's hilarious. Thanks for sharing.

My husband is losing interest in trips with long travel times. For us that means Indonesia, Maldives, etc. So I might be up for it depending when and where.

Right now I have a reservation at little cayman beach resort for Christmas week. Since you're married, I'm pretty sure that won't work for you. I really don't want to pay the $800 single supplement. 😆

Actually I would not have ruled it out except we will have just finished a T&C LOB. Too soon a turn around for me.

I am thinking of Dahab sometime during Jan-Feb and wondering how it is if one is travelling solo, affordable options, are there gender related problems and perhaps buddies.

There's a FB women's page "Girls that Scuba" and associated page "Girls that Scuba Together" for finding dive buddies.

I've found the best way is to connect with people on dive trips and liveaboards, exchange contact info, and then reach out to them to set up future trips together in the future. This also works for local dive buddies!

I am an unattached older woman who has money and time to travel (well, more time than money). It's super hard for me to find a travel companion, preferably female, but I have had several great male roommates/buddies. Any ideas?

Dahab is super affordable as a solo female diver. I went there 2 years ago. I recommend Scuba Seekers and specifically their woman divemaster Shereen Rahim. I never encountered any single supplements, and you can get dinner for as liitle as $1! Last time I dove with Red Sea Tribe, and I never dove in a group bigger than 3. I had a number of solo dives. All the dives I did were shore dives. I loved Dahab so much Im going back this August! The town is cool, too!!
