Hi everyone,

I have found this site, to hopefully find out as much as I can
about equipment and dive sites etc.
I am living in Dublin Ireland, and have not been diving regularly for years. I tend to dive when on holidays in Europe maybe twice a year.

I have decided to brave the atlantic ocean and dive here in Ireland. I know it is fantastic so I have to buy a good suit and equipment. I have so far found no direct reliable information from dive shops here. The Diving shop assistants so far, tend to be a little patronising about books I need and the best suits etc, so I will use the net instead, until I know a bit more.

I was very nearly sold a suit I was later told would be useless here!
I would have been freezing.

I lived in Cairns Australia before (90-94) for 4 years where I learned to dive with PADI and dived very often. It was fantastic, so thats what I want to do.

Thanks,...nice chatting

Hi Delphi and welcome to the board I dived N & S Ireland 70s - 80s and had a great time, There are some fantastic dive sites.
I used a 4m vest , 6m farmer john with a 6m jacket with hood attched and dived all year round.

Welcome to the board from the cold waters of New England USA. Have fun here and Dive Safe. Oh and by the way, I too am Irish and used to live in Cork

Top o' the marnin' to ya. Welcome.

(from near Dublin, California :) )

Welcome aboard Delphi. Always great to hear from someone new to the board. I'm curious, are you looking at wetsuits or dry? What is the water temp summer and winter in the area you plan to dive?

Good luck with your search for information. This is certainly the place to access the collective knowledge of some very experienced and helpful divers.

Hi there and welcome,

I am Irish too but been living in Wales for the past couple of years. Heading back in September with a couple of friends to dive at Achill Island. I was there briefly last week and I found it cold just swimming and had to wear a wetsuit for that, I'll be bringing my drysuit to dive in ;)
