I'm getting ready to replace the webbing on my BP, but I think that it should have lasted a little longer that it has at around 110+/-. So I thought that I would see when others replace there webbing. Do you maybe replace it at the first sighs of wear or do you give it a little more time, since it is just getting "broke" in?

Right now mine is showing a little wear on the sholder straps next to the BP and I think that because of the safety factor involved here it is time to get new webbing. So, when you replace yours?

In 2018 I guess. -Its only three years old!

Joke aside. You woudn't be able to rip off 1/4 of the beam of your web even if you put all of your weight to it. So unless the cosmetic aspect bothers you, or the webbing gets stuck because of holes and tears, you could probably leave it be without any worries.

I have web straps that are well over 10-15 years. Are the threads getting cut, or are they just buffing?

You might want to pull your webs and use a fine file or Dremel to polish the slots on the back plate if they are rough or sharp.

If you have a few cut threads, use a match and melt them down to stop any fraying.

As for safety factor, nylon web straps are very strong and you would need to cut at least 70+% of the way through before there would be a problem with unplaned seperation. But they might become a bit floopy as they cut through.

Mine frayed to around 1/3rd of the way in after around 150 dives.

So I just hoicked the strap up an inch, the frayed material is now at the back of the plate and I have a new section of webbing going through the plate where the wear occurs....

Hope this helps, I can grab a photo if it isn't clear what I mean.

When do you replace your webbing on your BP ?
When you pry it from my cold, dead hands!

:D

But seriously, I have 170 dives on mine. 75% or more in saltwater, with doubles. Looks none the worse for wear.

I think the little blue H's exert some kind of protective force-field to keep the webbing from fraying.
