What's this thing about tankinie bathing suits? I just use the one pieces, but that really doesn't seem to work when pulling off wetsuits and stuff. Something about not being tight enough at the top... Does anyone recommend a tankinie? I'm the modest tipe and won't go for a skinny 2-piece.

Any advice would be great. I'm still kinda new to diving and am just starting to experement with different ideas and stuff.

A "tank-ini" is my choice for live aboards or for long days of diving. It makes it much easier when nature calls--just a bottom to pull down. With a one piece, once it gets wet and Im sweaty, a quick trip to the bathroom is almost impossible! Check Landsend, they have a great selection year round.

Scubagirl,

A tankini is a binkini bottom with a tank top for the upper part of your body. I believe the top would have a built in bra to help with the pulling off the wetsuit issue. Some show some midriff others don't. I haven't worn one but they look very cute as well as functional.

I find that it is much easier to change out of a two piece than a one piece. I do a lot of beach diving and generally changing is not in a bathroom, but underneath a towel (what swimmers refer to as "deck changing"). The other topic refers to the problem of "when nature calls". Regardless of whether it's a one-piece suit or two-piece, a lot of trouble is avoided if you just move the fabric to one side. :biggrin2:

The tankini is great. I have both styles of top. One is short, like a sports bra & the other comes to the bellybutton. For me, the sports bra top is better for diving. The longer one tends to roll up.

Aquaphile is right about pulling the suit to the side. No fuss & no wrestling w/ the wet suit.

Tank kini's are great.. I found I was actually warmer in my semi dry with it.. because I had less fabric keep water away from my skin. Cause we know ladies can't normally go nude in their suits like some guys do.. oh well.. I like the tank kini's easy on .. easy off..

Thanks, ya'll have given me some great ideas. I think I'm going to try one. It sure sounds worth a try!!!

Love my tankini! For all the reasons listed above; plus they are great for long torsos. One that stops right at bottom rib length seems to be the best for diving for me...

Ditto on the tankinis. I started using them during my cert. classes. Now that's all I use for diving. Getting in and out of the wetsuit, and changing is a lot easier. Plus, I am "very gifted' on the top part, and with the tankini I don't have to worry about anything popping out of place, :11:
