Can't figure out if this is some living thing, or a piece of discarded fabric.

Took a pic of it off Tioman, at around 20m+, temp was 30 degrees

i have to emphasize that this 'thing' has totally no thickness to it. it was just... flat. there on the rock. the more i look at it the more i think this is some sort of alien turd
