there in 1 week & trying to figure out what wetsuits to pack for the wife & myself..........tia.........

We were there in Jul and used a 3mm at the beginning of the trip and then added a hooded vest later in the week. The water will be a little cooler now so I would expect that a 3mm with a hooded vest would work. A lot will depend on whether you get cold easily. I don't usually get cold but did on this trip. If you call BLR's Las Vegas office (800-542-4536) they should be able to give you current information. I put some pics from our Jul trip on my Scuba Board photo gallery if you are interested (ScubaBoard Gallery - Fiji 2010).

Regards,

Bill

I came back from there first week of Aug. The temp was 78 degrees on most dives. winter there right now.

Apologies for the thread resurrection, but same question...Except I fly off to Beqa tomorrow.

Trying to decide if I should pack a 3mm or 5mm wetsuit. Google seems to suggest water temp could be anywhere between 22 and 28C this time of year which doesn't help my decision making.

Appreciate any info!

I would expect it to be 26C or under. If you are doing the shark dive, you basically don't move for the entire dive, so the cold definitely gets to you. I don't normally get too affected by the cold but was shivering pretty uncontrollably after those two shark dives..

Hi
Here is he water temp data average for Fiji
Water temp in Fiji
Current temp is o the warmer side but still only around 25. As per previous comments, the Shark dive can be chilly as you are stationery for most of the dive. Aquatrek have 5mm suits to rent if you wanted.
Suggestion - bring a 3 or 5mm hood. It will make a big difference.

Have a great trip
Greg

We were there last October and wore our merino wool lined 3mm and then added a vest later in the week! Have fun!
