I recently saw this advertisement:

Description says that it is a: "Spare aluminum tank for Budy (attaches to the BCD)" Budy seems to be a brand or something.

Out of curiosity what on earth the use of such tank can be?

Cheers

Agree with Mod63 - looks like it's what used to be called a crack bottle. I had one on my buddy bcd but took it off and put a blanking plate over the connection.

Mine was black and had it's manufacture date stamped on the bottom. There are mixed views on their safety if you search around.

Comparable to the tanks used on the old Nemrod and Fenzy BC's

What puzzles me is this DIN connector at the end of the hose. It should be for refilling from another tank, but then how on earth this attaches to the BCD? Or maybe this connector looks like DIN but it is not?

They'd be a female DIN socket on the BCD to screw the male DIN connector in. Much like the AP crack bottle SMB (DIN version).

Wonder if it could be used for a larger lift bag?

Wow! All these to inflate a BCD or a DSMB!
Thanks for the info.

No only for BCD

it has a removable plastic yoke fitting mounted to it
