What's the seaweed situation?

I just heard today that my (non diving) little niece is going to Playa at the end of January to frolic on the beach with her parents.

Because I did not know if there were still a seaweed problem there I thought you guys could bring me up to date.

Much, much better than it's been.
Things can change very quickly, as you're probably aware, but my money would be on a great trip for your family - at least sargassum wise.

A co-worker just returned from Cancun and said that it was quite bad and they could not even go in the water.

Remember the west side is protected generally. The east side gets it. Except during those occasion wind changes.
