I'm doing some calculations to estimate the amount of lead I'll need to wear when I switch from a BCD to a bp/w. I was able to just sink my empty BCD + regulator + almost empty AL80 with 6 lbs of lead.

What's the approximate equivalent weight in lead of the regulator set (first stage, primary/alternate second stage, console (SPG + depth) and drysuit hose). I'm guessing 3-4 pounds. Anyone have a better idea?

Can you explain why you want that? You've already accounted for the weight of your reg if I read the first part of your post correctly.

I want to know because I don't know how much weight to attribute to the regulator set as opposed to the static buoyancy of the empty BCD. I want to be able to estimate the weight if I switch the BCD for a bp/w. I know the empty BCD has positive buoyancy, but I didn't try sinking it by itself so I don't know how much.

Easier to adjust by sinking just the bcd. It floats, and therefore you get a measurable number. You could weigh the regulator setup on a postal scale, but it's still just approximate.

Yep, just throw the BC alone in the water and see how much it takes to sink it.

The regulator and tank will be the same on the new config, so you don't need to worry about them. However, be sure to do a real weight check once you're actually in the water though. Anything else is just an approximation.
