Does anyone know what the differences are between these two regs? They both seem to be priced around the same, and I'm trying to decide which would be better suited for me. I dive mostly fresh water and I am looking for a reg that can go relatively deep (130') in cold water. I'm also looking for one that is inexpensive to service. Any suggestions?

50D has a swivel, DSV doesn't. That about sums it's up. In my experience, the DSV is generally a fair bit less expensive too, but if you've found then around the same price, I say personal preference is what it comes down to. I chose the DSV when I bought my first Zeagle reg, because I didn't feel the swivel added anything that I really needed.

Oh and as for deep and cold, the DSV can handle both. I've had it under ice a couple times, it's also been down to 130 feet with me in low 40 degree water. I would have no problems trusting that regulator with any conditions, deep or cold.

The 50-D has a swivel turret for the first stage low pressure ports. The DSV has no turret. The DSV is just an Envoy Deluxe with the addition of an environmental seal on the first stage. Both are good breathing regs. They use the same rebuild parts, except for the additional o-rings for the turret. Actually, 130' is not very deep for these or any other high quality reg. Rebuild cost depends upon who is doing the servicing, and whether or not the parts are covered by warranty.

As Jim noted, differences are minor, both are good. I take my 50D deep and cold (130 and mid-40s), and it breaths very well.

I've never been colder than 50 degrees with my DS/V and been to 130' a few times in warm water. It breathes very well even upside down. I love the adjustable ZX second stage. I have yet to notice the difference between my 15 foot safety stop and the deep or cold. Granted I have only had it one season so far. It performs very well for the price.

For my money you can't beat a Zeagle. I've got a pre-2001 (Apeks) Zeagle 50D that I've taken to 130' and and 47-degree water and it works just fine. I'm sure I'll get another one next time around. Did I mention that I am definitely a warm-water diver??? That 47-deg water was COLD!!!
