I'm a Fish!
Hello All

I dont normaly post here but I snoop around the web and read alot about other states and what they offer as far as diving.
so I find this page talking about Lake Tahoe and what Viz is like..and what it say's is that Visibility is always good, the average is 60-100 ft. On a bad day, divers still can have 25 ft. Water Temperatures at the surface vary during the year from 41 degrees in the winter to 68 in the summer. In the deeper water, temperatures range from 41 to 47 degrees.

This is not very common for a lake! And I dive a lot of lake's all over the country.
so is this true or a false statement?
why is this so, does this lake have something in it or just the way it is?

So if someone out their could inlighten me please do Thanks! :coffee:

What is not very common for a Lake -- the clarity?

Did you know that Tahoe has a surface elevation of 6225 ft (1897 m)? That's cold, mountain-runoff-fed mountain lake. It's also deep at 1,645 feet (501 m), the 2nd deepest lake in the US.

I've never dived it, but I have driven through and it looks PD clear, to me.

There isn't much to see in the lake. BIG rocks, crawdads and some fish. The coolest thing I have seen there was a Kokanee eating fish fry from a bait ball right in front of me.

If you search there are other threads talking about Tahoe.
