I know about the tax on the red eye to Bonaire but what about

Going to Bonaire

American to Curacao then
Divi Divi to Bonaire

Return flights

Divi Divi to Curacao (two day layover for non-diving reasons)
American to the States

How many departure taxes will there be? Sounds like a middle school math problem!

You will pay a departure tax from Bonaire to Curacao and you will pay another departure tax when leaving Curacao if the U.S air carrier did not already include it when you were ticketed. Continental included it the ticket which was good since the ticket was purchased using frequent flier miles.

Also, since you are flying on Divi-Divi you might get to sit next to the pilot if you get there early enough and request it. The Divi Divi planes do not fly that high.

Also depending on how much luggage they have your luggage might arrive on a later flight. They have very limited space for luggage on the plane.

OK ... let's see if I can get close to the middle school math ... as a transit passenger from AA to Divi I did not pay a tax leaving Curacao to go to Bonaire. The cost of the Bonaire departure tax was included in my Divi ticket and the departure tax receipt was stapled to my Divi paperwork. When I got back to Curacao there was a sign that people on AA could proceed directly through security. However I did not have a layover in Curacao so yours may be different.
