:cool2: We are diving Bonaire in a couple of weeks and wondering what dive apparel to take this trip--about the 15th? What dive temps have you seen recently?? I'm also interested in viz and any surge at the shore entrys. Thanks!!

We are on Bonaire now. Wind has been up for two weeks making the surge at the very southern sites pretty strong and has knocked vis back to about 40-50 feet. The wind has started to taper some and is forecasted to die down which should improve things. Water temp was 80 in my computer this morning.

I would suggest a 3mm suit or a simple skin- depending on how cold you usually feel. I've dove in Bonaire in winter (for the US, at least), and that's all I used or needed. I think the temperature was 80-82 the whole time.

One piece of dive apparel you'll definitely want will be dive boots- with a tough sole for walking on the rocks at the shore dive sites.

Edit: You can leave the gloves at home. They're not allowed in the Marine Park.

I always recommend a drysuit just in case

;)Just in case, yep! I expect to get cold eventually at 80F. So I guess I will take everything that I use to dive da bridge in the low 70's. Really glad to hear it's up to 80 though!!

It was 73 today in Jupiter in the 70' range and I was cold on the 2nd dive in my 3.5 mil. I guess I need to keep my drysuit on until it hits the 80's

It's was 81F at Karpata all last week, unless you hit the thermocline at about 240'. It dropped to 75F from there to 260'. Didn't go deeper than 260'.

We are now on Bonaire and the temp out front at Habitat yesterday was 79F. Some wave action at the shore, so a little milky viz of 40-45 ft. Nice diving yesterday. Today we search for frogfish thanks to djtimmy...............oops, I got on my wife's acct. jimw
