Taking a newbie with me to Coz this summer and am curious about the average depth at the most common dive spots. Haven't been there since Wilma and know that it has changed. Anyone who knows????
Is a 3mm wetsuit enough for someone accustomed to diving in 87 degree water?:D

The depths are going to be the same vs. pre-Wilma(90 to 130 1st dive, ~70 2nd dive and 60 for an afternoon dive--50 on a nite dive)......IMO, 3 mm(I'm guessing full suit) is overkill for 87 degree water---@ that temp, skins for protection will be all you'll need....Water temps @ CZM should not hit that if that's the dive location you're referring to.....good luck & enjoy.....

3mm is fine. As far as the average depth, that just depends on what site you visit. Some that I dove are around 40' and others up to 110'. IMHO, the best dive spot is around 65' at Santa Rosa Wall.

I dove a 3 mil wetsuit with a 2 mil hooded vest, and I was okay for 70 minute dives. In retrospect, I would have been warmer in my 5 mil (which I didn't have then).

Depth, I was over 120' on several dives...but plan on around 100 at the beginning of the deeper dives.
I am a very "warm" diver, but this last trip, in Dec, I was a little chilly in my beat up old 3mm. My wife- a "cool" divers wears a nice full 3MM, then added a 5mm hood for second dives...YMMV, but a hood is cheap insurence, adds a lot of warmth, takes little space.

As I recall, night dives, and dives with beginners are often in 40 to 60 ft depths. Experience divers usually start at about 90-100 ft and go to shallower water at the end of the dives, or on second dives. Few shore dive sites are available, but not too much reef left after Wilma.

Check and make sure your dive opt has enough boats and customers to cater to shallower dives.

That sounds about right. I don't use a suit in the 89 water but my air consumption is good so sometimes I'm down for quite awhile. It's better to be safe, I'll bring my 5mm. Thanks
