My two favorite FREE dives on Panhandle:

Saltwater: Destin Jetties
Freshwater: Morrison Spring.

Both great dives for beginners. Do a search on diving the jetties. We have some threads on here that show exactly how to get there along with all the advice on diving at high tide etc.

Im new, so no "Mighty O".

I live in MS and now that I graduated I plan on spending my off days diving.

Depends on your tolerance to the cold, I typically dive Morrison in a 3mm, with a hoodvest in the winter.

Panama City Beach(St. Andrew State Park - more accurately) has a great set of jetties as well. For other cheap, free stuff, Navarre Beach Pier is fun and P'Cola Beach Reef isn't bad either. Cypress Springs is awesome if you are willing to work a bit to get there.

If you are looking for chartered stuff, there's an array of tugs, freighters, YDTs, liberty ships, military ships, planes, trains, tanks, rubble, small patches of natural bottom, rubble, rigs, barges, ect to find and dive. The options are pretty wide open.

Personally, I think a 5mm is plenty. I dive Morrison with a 3mm and a 1mm skin, and a hood and I am fine. Morrison is 68 degrees year around. You will LOVE Morrison.

I cant wait to do Morrison! I am wondering what kind of suit I need..
5 or 7?

As Supr said, there are tons of in and around P'cola
In P'cola I'd reccomend either Viking diving, or MBT
Destin, both SCUBATech, and Emerald coast are good(I'm partial to ECS 'cuz I used to work there) But a great friend works at SCUBATech.
Ther are plentty of wrecks in the area, as well as some good natural bottom.
Good Luck and safe diving.
