I am suprised there wasn't a tag or sign on it. Usually there is a sign stating "please do not remove, property of ..blah blah blah..."
Especially when placed in a common dive site!
I dove with a guy recently who claimed to be part of the group that placed that left side derek.
Nice pics!

This is an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). It is an oceanographic instrument for measuring current direction and speed. The 4 black circles on top are transducers. It sends an acoustic pulse and listens for the return signal. The sound waves bounce off suspended particles in the water. By measuring the doppler shift between the sent signal and the return signal the current speed can be determined. If you don't see a wire or cable running to it then it is recording the data internally on a hard disk.

You found one of the download sites for the Matrix. You just gotta figure out how to activate it now so you can get out.

rockjock.. did you imbibe the blue one.. or the red one?
i knew it looked like something you built  pvc rocks!

charris400.. thank you.. ADCP.. got it.

but now i hope that acoustic pulse it sends out isn't too hazardous to your health..
because i think we were right in front of it when it went off :11:
