I got this one (except it is long sleeved) The Level Six Store / Venus 2010: Women's Sleeveless Rash Top - Women - You and I didn't pay that much for it. Hubby got a long sleeve blue quicksilver one. Class starts in 6 days and I have read the entire PADI workbook...and starting to read it again.
What would that under shirt be called??

EFB...in all likelihood he was referring to a rashguard. Depending on the type of wetsuit, it will also make the donning easier. Welcome aboard. I will PM you shortly to ask you some questions offline.
