I've had so much success with the "regret" thread, thought I'd start another one.

This one will make us all think: If you had to pick ONE single piece of gear that you have bought that has made the biggest positive difference in your experience of diving, what was it?

I had to think a while. I love my gear, all of it except my drysuit, and it all works well and I enjoy using it. But the single thing that made the biggest difference was my spring straps. Being able to get in and out of my fins in two seconds, without struggling, without worrying about them coming off (and they don't) was the most wonderful improvement from a gear purchase.

Im with you on the spring straps! Why didnt someone think of this years ago..?

I'm not sure that I have _one_ single thing.

I really like most of my gear, though I must say, the analog Mares depth gauge that I thought I was just going to keep in a pocket and use in case my computer dies, has become a favourite over the last few dives... It's definately not going into a pocket :)

well, my biggest problem to date has been struggling to maintain trim and bouyancy
with a BC and a much-too-heavy old fashioned cave light

so... buying a BP/wings and a DiveRite slim light made my life 90% easier

so i guess that's my best gear buy

A dive shop. :D

(It got me out of the rat race, and doing something I like - and someday, it may even make some money)

Other than that, it is a 2-way tie between those Trident Triangle thingies that keep my drysuit boots snugly against my feet and a $12 generic mask I got in Thailand that actually fits my schnozz without pinching.

Gotta go with the halcyon bp/w, though after years of paddle fins i do love my apollo XT splits.

you know, I really just like having the neoprene mask strap.

It's a pretty simple thing :idea3: contraption. Maybe I'm just easily pleased
