Hey all,

I'm heading out to SoCal to dive this coming weekend. I'm really going to a conference, but lucked out going early. Most likely the boat is going to the Channel Islands.

What can I expect for conditions for photography?

TIA!

Lori

Conditions can be quite variable within the Channel Islands region. I assume you mean the boat may be going to the northern Channel Islands (Anacapa to San Miguel) rather than the southern ones like Catalina. People often seem to forget there are EIGHT Channel Islands, not just the four off the Santa Barbara/Ventura area.

Over the past two weeks here I have seen vis at the same sites vary from 10 ft to 80 ft depending on time of day, tides, plankton, "upwelling" (not of the classical variety), etc.
