So where does everybody go now that the water is getting cold? I am getting some new equipment I'd love you try, but the list doesn't include a drysuit.

It just depends on how cold is cold to you. I am going to Gilboa in N. OH this weekend and I am diving with some people in wetsuits. I am sure they will be thick ones though. Until I went dry this time of year was pool time for me but I am a wimp.

What gear are you getting?

Chad

I hope to have one more ow dive (low 40F) this season because I don't dive dry yet either. I have access to a pool so I'll hit that a couple times during the winter as an addiction fix and to practive bouyancy, etc.

I bought a Sea Quest Raider and with any luck I will be able to pick up a Uwatec Smart Pro next week. My rregs will probably have to wait until next month though.

Congradulations on the purchase. I hope you enjoy them.

I hope you put them to use by diving with the KPP sometime.

Chad

For infrequent diving into cold water (32 - 45 °F) the wetsuit of choice is 7mm thick, farmer John, with step in jacket ( short legs)
a cold water hood, ( a hooded vest is even better) and 3 finger mitts.

The limit for single exposures is about 20 - 30 minutes.

For longer or repated exposures we dive drysuits

Head on down to Florida.

Wait, hmmm, That might cost about the same as a dry suit...........

Nevermind! :D

Actually I am heading to Florida between Xmas and New Years. I know I am goig to Vortex Springs, and maybe a day at Crystal River if I feel up to the drive, since I will be staying in Ft. Walton Beach. I was told last wekk that the waters in the Gulf are still very warm, around 80 degrees. If they stay in the 70's I may get out on a boat but I am not sure yet. I'll have to decide when I get there.

I am looking for someplace to dive through the winter as well. I'm up for trying the 7mm wetsuit dive in cold water, but I'd love to meet ANYONE who has access to a pool for the winter! Drop me a PM!

Did you guys see the snow flurries today??? :cold:

I saw the snow flurries yesterday as they were falling on my head as I surfaced from my dive at Gilboa.

Gotta love that drysuit.

Chad

Gosh it was still cold though.
