What to do with car keys?

Well, it turns out that there were no worries. The area we did our dives in was a local beach with a fair amount of people (both divers & non-divers), with a few shore support people, so everything turned out fine in the end. I will be buying a little dry box for the future, however, in case there is no shore support on other dives.

My Ford F150 has a keypad on it that allows you to lock the truck and open it with a combination. I think you can by it after market too.
 
I pull my xterra's key of the ring and zip tie it to a D-ring on my BC while beach diving. It works greats. To take it off, I use my knife or even simpler (and safer for the BC) is just twist it around about twenty times until the zip tie breaks off.
