Don't get me wrong..... it's fish that deserve to die, those nasty, evil, backboned, worm-eating slime-sucking gutter scum of the ocean! Scaley monsters that eat my little cute wormies!! Not men, even if they do call me a fishy-type.....
Wormly yours,
:07:

Ah... so NOW it becomes clear. You know of course that most of us are scientifically challenged here, right?

My apologies for calling you a fishy-type person. However, your expertise is still greatly appreciated. :thumb:

It's better to be scientifically challenged than dive challenged like me :06: That's why I hang around these boards. It's the only way I'll ever see what these critters - inverts & fish alike - really look & act like. Divers are sooo lucky!

And thanks for putting up with me when I start spouting off!

Leslie,

Are these guys in all waters? The reason I ask is the last is the last few times I've been in Cozumel, I've been mobbed on the night dives by these guys in the top 15 feet or so. Nothing quite so nasty as having the little guys swim in ur ear.

I'd much rather be in a swarm of worms than piranhas! Yup, they're pretty much everywhere. Keep in mind that a lot of different types of polychaetes swarm so what you saw might not have been nereids. Get any pictures?
