Can anyone recommend a model # pelican case. I have a Oly 5050, pt-015 housing, tray, arm, ttl flash, and ikelite ds50 strobe. I would like something just big enough with a little extra room for some accs.
Thanks, Howard

I can recommend the Storm Case model #iM2400.

It is carry-on size and I have used it on trips to Micronesia, Bali and the Philippines.

I fit two Oly PT-010 housings, Inon strobe, wide angle lens, macro lens, tray and arm and miscellaneous items in it. I can also get my laptop in it.

I think the latches on the Storm case are easier to use than the Pelican case.

I ordered the case without the pluck foam. I found it easier to use bubble wrap.
I made four posts out of a cardboard tube mailer to place the laptop on so it would be the topmost item in the case. You can move the posts around and place items between them.

i just yesturday purchesed the pelican 1550, it is large enough to store my canon pro-1 camera, ike-lite housing,ike-lite dc125 strobe, arm , and chargers, and has enough room to still store more small acssesories, and i can carry it on the plane as i was told so so many times to do so by so many members of this board in a thread i started (pelican case and the air lines) it was a great buy and i am happy to be able to keep my camera equipment with me at all times during my travel to the phillipines this next week (3-3-06)

I would look more at the Storm cases, they are lighter and have better latches.

The best model that I believe will fir your system is the iM2500 w/wheels. Otherwise the Storm iM2400.

If you are stuck on Pelican, then the 1510 or the 1550 should work.

I personally would not use a Pelican for a carry on. For a carry on, I use a Tamrac 692:

.

I use a Pelican 1620 for a checked bag. With a DSLR you have to carry alot of stuff.

Why not?
I have been using one for a while when going on month long pacific trips. The wheels get me(and my large personal bag) through the airports in a flash. Occasionally, Quantas decides to gate check it due to its weight, but, at least, I watch it being loaded onto the plane without the pilfering hands of the checkers

My answer to that to checking a 1620......
I would not check a pelican bag at all as they are proven targets for these same pilferers.

My 1550 goes with me and is always easy to fit into overhead bins.
