What Set Up ??????

Looking for some advise. I have done nothing but rereational diving to this point and want to starting getting some gear and trainning for tek. I need to purchase another BC just because I want one and by working at my LDS, I get killer prices. My thinking is instead of buying another recreational BC to go ahead and by a more tek oriented BC. I want to get a Halcyon SS back plate w/the harness. My question is, if I get the explorer wings, can they be used in a sigle tank application until I am ready to use them for doubles. Am I better to do that or by the pioneer wings and get the double wings later. I will proably still be using primarily AL 80's until I can get the steel tanks. If I were to get the explorer wings, how hard id to convert them for sigle use? This proably sounds like a lot of babble but I think you get my point. Any guidance or suggestions would be appreciated. Be gental because I am new.

pioneer is the way to go for single tank. i know it sucks having to buy a pioneer and an explorer especially at halcyon's "fair" prices.

however, a friend tells me it is possible to use the 55 explorer with their single tank adapter. i am not sure if it will create a full hot dog but it certainly won't be streamlined. air trappings may also be an issue. in short, i would not do it.

Keep a close eye out for some new wings and complete BP/wing setup coming to the market really soon.......hopefully They sound like they will be extremely nice and hopefully much cheaper than the halcyon. You really need to just buy two wings; one for singles and one for doubles. A 55lbs wing would function with a single tank...just not very well. A dedicated singles wing allows for better streamlining, less drag and ease of air dumping. Yes, it will cost more with two wings but, if you are really serious about doing it right, this is the way to go.
