On a Nikon D80 (and also the D40, D50, D70, D200, I think), the sensor measures 23.6mm x 15.8 mm. It is referred to as a "1.5 crop" or 1.5x crop because it is 2/3 the size of a 35mm frame of film. That is why a Nikon 60mm DX (digital) lense is equivalent to a 90mm (60mm x 1.5) lense on a traditional film dSLR.
